Coloured initials added by hand after printing.

Verso:  Two columns of Latin text printed in black in a gothic font on laid paper. Three three-line initials alternating in blue and red beginning the chapters.  Heading ‘Josue’.

Recto:  As Verso, with one coloured initial beginning Chapter 15.

Printer:  Georgius Arrivabenus.

Origin:  Venice.

Date:   February 27, 1488.

Content:  The text on Verso includes all of Chapters 16 and 17 and sections of Chapters 15 and 18. The red initial ’C’; begins Chapter 16:

Cecidit quoque sors filiorum Ioseph ab Iordane contra Hiericho et aquas eius ab oriente solitudo quae ascendit de Hiericho ad montana Bethel. Et egreditur de Bethel Luzam transitque terminum Archiatharoth.

(And the lot of the sons of Joseph fell from the Jordan over against Jericho and the waters thereof, on the east: the wilderness which goeth up from Jericho to the mountain of Bethel: And goeth out from Bethel to Luza: and passeth the border of Archi, to Ataroth,)

Condition:  This leaf is in very good condition, sharply printed and with original margins all round.   The coloured initials remain bright and unfaded. There is some light foxing in the margins but the text block is clear of it.  The leaf is unconditionally guaranteed genuine.

Size: Leaf: approx. 215x160 mm. Printed area : approx.  175x120mm.
