“The Fall of Jericho”.
Woodcut, signed & dated 1956

Notes: This charming woodcut displays fine qualities - excellent draughtmanship, a strong sense of theatre and a gentle humour. Rumpf has placed the marching soldiers and priests against the stark, castellated wall of the city. The spear-carrying soldiers are shouting as the priests blow the trumpets - as described in Joshua Chapter 6. “On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.”
Condition: The woodcut is in excellent condition with a sharp impression and wide margins.
Size: Image 280x220 mm. Matted in museum quality materials. Guaranteed to be an original woodcut signed by the artist. Please note that postage/packing is invoiced separately. Within Australia $30. Overseas, ask for quote.
