Source:  Italy

Date:  c. 1450

Content:  The leaf is the first of the parent manuscript and opens with the Gospel readings for the first Sunday of Advent (Luke, Matthew and John).  The initial ‘I’ begins the passage:  In illo tempore dixit iesus disciplis suis. (At that time Jesus said to his disciples: And there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations by reason of the confusion of the roaring of the sea and of the waves.  Men withering away for fear, and expectation of what shall come upon the whole world.  For the powers of heaven shall be moved; And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud, with great power and majesty.)

Condition:  This leaf is in very good condition.  There is some soiling in the right margin  from page turning, a slight loss of pigment from the small illuminated initial and considerable ink loss on Verso.  However the large illuminated initial is near perfect and the leaf is visually spectacular.

It is unconditionally guaranteed genuine.
