Delicately Illuminated initials added by hand after printing


Verso:  Two columns of Latin text printed in two sizes in black in a gothic font on laid rag paper.  Three coloured initials of various sizes, alternating in blue and red.


Recto:  As Verso, with two further coloured initials.

Date:   February 27, 1487-88


Content:  The leaf includes the last part of the Epistle of Paul to Timothy 2 and the beginning of the Epistle of Paul to Titus. The large illuminated initial ‘P’ begins Titus, the fourth verse of which is: Tito dilecto filio secundum communem fidem gratia et pax a Deo Patre et Christo Iesu salvatore nostro.  (To Titus, my beloved son according to the common faith, grace and peace, from God the Father and from Christ Jesus our Saviour).


Condition:  This leaf is in very good/excellent condition, sharply printed and with original margins all round.   The coloured initials remain bright and unfaded.  Very slight edge browning. The leaf is unconditionally guaranteed genuine.
