Notes: Antoninus of Florence, 1389-1459, was an Italian Dominican friar, who ruled as an Archbishop of Florence.  Antoninus' writings, some in Italian, reflect a pronounced awareness of the problems of social and economic development. He argued in them that the state had a duty to intervene in mercantile affairs for the common good, and the obligation to help the poor and needy. Within fifty years after the first appearance of the Summa Theologica (Venice, 1477), fifteen editions were printed at Venice, Spires, Nuremberg, Strasburg, Lyons, and Basle. Other editions appeared in the following century.

Antoninus was canonized in 1523 by Pope Adrian VI, who himself held ideas of radical and drastic church reform similar to those of Antoninus.

Condition:  This leaf is in very good/excellent condition. Very slight browning at the extreme edges of the leaf is inconsequential and the leaf is a magnificent example of the skill and care that early printers brought to their craft.   The leaf is unconditionally guaranteed genuine.
