Recto: Text in Dutch written in a rounded gothic bookhand in brown ink on heavy laid paper. Ruled in red and rubrics in red. One two-line initial ‘W’ in red and three one-line initials alternating in blue and red. Pricking marks in the right margin.

Verso: As Recto, with one coloured initial and extensive rubrics in red.

Origin: Netherlands

Date:  c. 1500

Condition: The leaf is in very good/excellent condition. Apart from the expected edge browning, the leaf is in fine condition with clean paper and clear and bright text and decorations. It is unconditionally guaranteed genuine.

Size:  Size of leaf: approx. 145x105 mm. Text and illuminated area : approx. 85x65 mm. 

 Notes: A breviary, etymologically a compendium or abridgement, is the liturgical work which contains the psalms and the hymns, the readings from Sacred Scripture and from the writings of the Fathers, the prayers and the responses, which are combined to form the canonical hours of the divine office of prayer recited daily throughout the world by priests and the religious.
