Provenance:  This leaf comes from a known Bible, the so-called “Cambridge Bible”.  It came originally from an English Monastic library, possibly the Franciscan nunnery at Waterbeach, near Cambridge, which was founded in 1281.  Scraps of a contemporary ownership inscription on the last page of the original manuscript could be interpreted as a bequest to nuns, supporting this suggestion.  It is believed to have been in Cambridge during the 16th century, hence the name.  The original book was sadly broken up after its sale at auction in 1948.
