Highly burnished & embellished gold initial.
It seems most likely that this leaf derives from a prayerbook rather than a Book of Hours. It contains an entire prayer to Saints Mary and Barbara, (often combined in Northern Europe prayerbooks), in Dutch.
Recto: 22 lines of text written in Dutch in an assured gothic bookhand on vellum. Ruled in red and rubrics in red. One beautifully executed four-line initial ‘O’ in raised and burnished gold on blue and brick grounds with red and white penwor k embellishments.

Condition: The leaf is in excellent condition with clean vellum and high quality illuminations. Very slight rubbing to the gold. It is unconditionally guaranteed genuine.
